Gucci and Adidas collaboration now on sale in Dubai

Iconic range of clothing and accessories lands in Gucci store inside Mall of the Emirates

The most lustworthy fashion brand in recent years joining forces with arguably the most iconic sportswear label of all time was always going to be a big deal. No wonder, then, that the Gucci x Adidas hybrid collection was given a massive walk-through experience recently in Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.

Crowds of cool-hunters swarmed to see fashion’s hottest collaboration of men’s and womenswear when it launched in an MOE atrium during the summer. Now, clothes and accessories from that collection are available to buy at the Gucci store inside MOE.

Lined with kaleidoscopic carpet, the immersive installation displayed soon-to-be-sold-out pieces such as Gucci’s iconic Horsebit leather loafers with the distinctive Adidas stripes on the side. Adidas’ equally iconic Gazelle sneakers in a variety of colours were emblazoned with the Gucci interlocking G pattern and the name Gucci embossed on the outside of the sole. Stamped inside the shoe was Adidas’ famous motto ‘Die Marke Mit Den 3 Streifen’ which, as any sneakerhead knows, is German for ‘The Brand With Three Stripes’, plus ‘Made in Italy’ just underneath, revealing the shoe’s connection to Gucci.

Sporty duffel bags, purses, clutches, handbags, bucket hats, socks, caps, and scarves carrying the Gucci name and the beloved Adidas Trefoil were among the range of accessories shown to crowds at the retail pop-up exhibition, which are now on sale in store. Retro tracksuits with the familiar three stripes of Adidas running down sleeves and trouser legs carried Gucci logos, while jewellery added some bling to the collab.

The partnership was discreetly revealed on Gucci’s Instagram account in February with a photograph of a cream double-breasted blazer bearing the Adidas Trefoil on the chest pocket and an accompanying caption that read, “Signature silhouettes meet the combined creative codes of @adidasoriginals and the House, creating something distinctly new.” The hotly-anticipated collaboration was then unveiled on the runway at the Gucci FW22 show in Milan, viewed by Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.

Adidas is no stranger to the world of high fashion houses, teaming up with Balenciaga and Prada in the past. Gucci, meanwhile, has hooked up with The North Face, Disney, and even gaming brand Xbox to make products that quickly gained cult status.

Since becoming creative director at the Italian fashion powerhouse in 2015, Alessandro Michele has breathed new life into Gucci. Often injecting a casual, sporty feel to his collections, Michele has won plaudits among the fashion press pack while boosting sales and adding a huge lust factor to the brand’s output. Michele’s latest range with Adidas, which can be seen now in Dubai, is further proof of his golden touch as well as his knack of creating an unforgettable fashion moment.
