Not content with operating one of the best restaurants in Dubai, the luxury Nobu brand is now turning its attention to opening a glamorous beach club. The much-anticipated beachfront venue will debut in late 2023 at Atlantis The Royal, the ambitious new extension of the Atlantis hotel on Dubai’s iconic Palm.

The pool and beach club concept is a first for the Nobu brand, which began in New York City in 1994 when chef Nobu Matsuhisa collaborated with movie actor Robert De Niro to open a restaurant in the fashionable Tribeca neighbourhood.

Sure to be a hit with Dubai’s style crowd, Nobu by the Beach will maintain the minimalistic Japanese design touches that are seen in the brand’s restaurants around the world. Its desirable location will give guests knockout views of the Palm and the Dubai cityscape.

A signature Nobu restaurant and sushi bar will naturally be the centrepiece of the beach club and will feature a spacious al fresco bar and terrace overlooking the ocean. The kitchen is led by Chef de Cuisine, Belkacem Boubekeur, who has worked at Nobu since 2018 in the Monte Carlo and Atlantis restaurants. The menu will continue Nobu’s trademark Japanese Peruvian menu but instead in a lighter format such as bento boxes, sandos and bitesize black cod and tacos. Inside, diners can also try a live robatayaki (fireside cooking) experience.

The beach club area will invite guests to wallow in a tempting lagoon pool or lounge on comfortable day beds. Air-conditioned cabanas – two of which feature their own private plunge pools overlooking the Arabian ocean – offer an elevated experience and can accommodate spa services as well as a floating food and drinks service. Adding to the atmosphere will be a deep house soundtrack from a live DJ.

Befitting of a brand known for luxury and glamour, Nobu By the Beach intends to offer VIP touches to guests such as popsicles, fruit ceviche, monaka (a sweet Japanese crisp sandwich) and mochi ice cream. If you’ve spilled your sun cream, staff will be happy to clean your sunglasses or jewellery using an advanced ultrasonic method. Nobu branded beach bags, hats, fans, water bottles and toiletry bags containing travel size-skin care products also await guests at the high-end spot.
